Grease Nipples
BSP fittings can be either tapered BSPT, or parallel BSPP (or BSPF). BSP threads have a 55° thread form.
Tapered Threads are also known as R series and Parallel threads G series. e.g. R1/8″ = 1/8″ x 28 BSPT
For standard grease nipples, the 1:16 tapered design is preferred as it seals in a mating parallel hole without the need for sealant. The reference 1/8 or 1/4 does not refer to the diameter of the thread. It is an old reference to the pipe size onto which the thread would be used.
