Self Forming threads eliminate the need to tap a thread in the hole.
The fitting is screwed in and it forms its own thread. If it has to be replaced it can be unscrewed and replaced with a standard threaded fitting.
These are available ¼ x 28, 1/8 x 27, M6 x 1, M8 x 1 and M10 x 1.
