Drive Fit grease fittings do not require a tapping operation in the hole. The fittings are driven into the hole and the interference fit retains it in the hole.
The size in the fitting designation is the nominal hole size. Different materials may act differently, so some test drilling is recommended.
The downside is that these fittings cannot be easily removed if damaged and the hole will not accommodate the same fitting once removed.
