Questi raccordi sembrano essere stati forgiati a freddo (anzich\u00e9 lavorati meccanicamente) e come tali presentano angoli arrotondati sull&#039;esagono e una superficie concava di ritegno a sfera.<\/p>\n<p>Poich\u00e9 gli angoli dell&#039;esagono erano arrotondati e non erano formati correttamente, era difficile misurarne le dimensioni. Gli angoli arrotondati possono rivelarsi dannosi quando si utilizza una bussola per avvitare il raccordo. La superficie del ritegno a sfera deve essere piana per ridurre l&#039;accumulo di contaminanti su questa superficie, che potrebbero penetrare nel raccordo durante la lubrificazione.<\/p>\n<p>Da notare anche che il colore giallo della placcatura \u00e8 sbiadito sulle superfici esposte.<\/p>\n<p>I raccordi sono stati temprati a 85-88 HR15N, ma il labbro sembra essere stato successivamente ammorbidito per facilitarne la piegatura e trattenere la molla. (L&#039;estremit\u00e0 del raccordo \u00e8 scolorita, il che suggerisce che \u00e8 stato applicato calore). Ci\u00f2 potrebbe anche ammorbidire le prime filettature, il che potrebbe influire sulla capacit\u00e0 dei raccordi di iniziare a formare una filettatura in un foro.<\/p>\n<p>I raccordi sono stati sottoposti a test di grasso, le pressioni di apertura erano di 60, 70 e 240 psi, un intervallo ampio che indica una fabbricazione non uniforme, mentre 60\/70 psi \u00e8 piuttosto basso per un raccordo idraulico.<\/p>\n<p>I raccordi hanno superato il test di tenuta specificato nella norma SAE J534.<br \/>\nQuando i raccordi sono stati sottoposti a test di lubrificazione ad alta pressione a 8.000 psi (la pressione a cui vengono testati i Kingfisher), entrambe le molle hanno ceduto. Si tratta di un guasto critico.<\/p>\n<p>L&#039;altro raccordo \u00e8 stato testato ad alta pressione fino a 5.000 psi secondo la norma SAE J534.
